LUFKIN, TX (Press release) - Local radio stations set the goal for their Spring Fundraiser at $95,000. At the end of day three, even after the goal had been met, the calls kept coming in and the final total of funds pledged was $109,444.
In response to the success of the fundraiser the KSWP/KAVX General Manager Al Ross shared,
"Many people are looking for a place of hope in difficult times. It is humbling to be a part of something that the community can look to for that hope and so overwhelmingly supports. These kinds of results are a reminder of how wonderful it is to work hand in hand with the community to touch so many lives. Thank you to the 24 restaurants and businesses that donated food and supplies, to the nearly 100 volunteers who came to help as well as the 369 donors. It is an honor to serve so many for life!"
At the beginning of this Spring Fundraiser KSWP and KAVX made a gift to HCJB Global in the amount of 1% of their goal. Since the fundraiser goal was reached and exceeded, the stations sent an extra check to HCJB Global One Household Project for the difference. This gift will bring Christian Radio to 1,095 families in countries all around the world that don't allow missionaries within their borders. This is just another example of KSWP and KAVX's new commitment to lead by example and share the love of Christ with others.
This Spring Fundraiser exceeded more than just the monetary goal. There were a record number of new givers, online gifts and even the highest number of LIVE online viewers on the webcam.
"These stations have been listener supported for almost 25 years and after the results of this fundraiser, it's safe to say that the community actively wants to see these radio ministries continue running strong. Serving together is a real honor. " Michelle Ross, Program Director for KSWP/KAVX, added.
