NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) - The Nacogdoches County Jail passed a surprise inspection with no deficiencies this week, according to a press release.
This is the second consecutive year that inspectors did not a deficiency. The jail inspection involves checking for the jail's maintenance, water pressure, and that every department is in working order, according to Chief Deputy Doug Richards.
In the past, jail administrators had problems passing inspection because of older equipment and water pressure, problems they have since corrected. Because the jail is older, keeping up with general maintenance is always a challenge, Richards said. He also said certain parts around the jail may be hard to find, which could lead to deficiencies.
"I would just say do your daily maintenance," Richards said as advice to other county jail administrators. "Don't let problems wait. Not just for passing inspection for your officers as well."
