LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) – According to Lufkin Police, a customer at Beard's Fine Jewelers snatched a Rolex watch from an employee's hand and then took off running. Police said the snatch-and-run theft happened around 5:05 Saturday evening.

It was reportedly the man's second time in the store Saturday. An employee from Lee's Nails, a neighboring business, chased after the suspect on foot along the feeder road of Loop 287.

Police said a witness driving along the roadway began to honk her car horn several times after she spotted the suspect pull a pistol from his pants. The employee then stopped chasing the suspect. Police said the suspect dropped the magazine of his pistol during the short chase.

The suspect is described as a black male at least 5'9. Police believe he left the scene in a white Ford Mustang.

Police hope surveillance video of the suspected watch thief will help solve this case.
