Iraqi informant covertly videotaped hospital for commando raid

Washington-AP -- An Iraqi informant who secretly videotaped the hospital where P-O-W Jessica Lynch was held is credited with providing critical information before her rescue.

On the day of the raid, officials say the informant walked around the hospital, videotaping entrances and a route to Lynch's room. The Iraqi was paid for his services.

American commandos rescued Lynch from the hospital on April second.

The 19-year-old Army private was in a room in Saddam Hospital in southern Iraq.

The Palestine, West Virginia native worked as a supply clerk with the Army's 507th Maintenance Company. Her unit was ambushed near Nasiriyah (nah-sih-REE'-uh). She's recuperating at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington.
