4/22/10 Lufkin Police reports

Assault - 3500 Block North John Redditt Drive: At approximately 3:00 P.M. on Wednesday, April 21, 2010, a complainant reported to Lufkin Police Department that her boyfriend assaulted her and damaged property at her residence located in the 3500 block of North John Redditt Drive.  According to the report, the complainant stated that during an argument the suspect used his fist to strike the complainant's arm and damaged two telephones and a door before fleeing the area.  The report did not list any injuries to the complainant and stated that the incident was referred for further investigation.

Burglary/Vehicle - 4000 Block Ellen Trout Drive: A complainant reported to Lufkin Police Department that between the hours of 2:30 P.M. on Tuesday, April 20, 2010 and 12:30 P.M. on Wednesday, April 21, 2010, an unidentified actor(s) burglarized a vehicle while the vehicle was parked in the 4000 block of Ellen Trout Drive.  According to the report, the actor(s) entered the unlocked vehicle and removed from it car audio and video equipment.  The report stated that the incident was referred for further investigation.

Theft - 900 Block South Second Street: At approximately 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, April 21, 2010, a complainant reported to Lufkin Police Department that her houseguest stole keys from her residence located in the 900 block of South Second Street.  According to the report, the complainant stated that the suspect removed the keys from a key ring that had been inside of the complainant's purse.  The report stated that the complainant provided a description of the suspect but the responding Lufkin Police Department Officers were unable to locate the suspect and that the incident was referred for further investigation.

Theft - 100 Block North Chestnut Drive: A complainant reported to Lufkin Police Department that between at approximately 7:30 A.M. on Tuesday, April 20, 2010, his vehicle radiator was stolen from outside of a repair business located in the 100 block of North Chestnut Drive.  According to the report, the complainant left the radiator outside of the closed business hoping to have it repaired but unidentified an actor stole the radiator prior to the business retrieving it.  The report stated that the incident was referred for further investigation.

Firearm/Shots Fired - 1400 Block Bell Street: On Wednesday, April 21, 2010, a complainant reported to Lufkin Police Department that at approximately 1:30 A.M. on Sunday, April 18, 2010 an unidentified actor(s) fired multiple gunshots outside of his residence located in the 1400 block of Bell Street.  According to the report, the complainant stated that he did not see the actor(s) and he did not contact law enforcement at the time of the gunshots.  The report stated that the incident was referred for further investigation.

Harassment - 1600 Block Sayers Street: A complainant reported to Lufkin Police Department that between the hours of 10:00 A.M. April 12, 2010 and 8:00 A.M. on Wednesday, April 21, 2010, her ex-husband harassed her by telephone and through text messages.  According to the report, the complainant informed the suspect that the calls and messages were unwanted and requested that he suspect discontinue his harassing actions but the suspect continued to call and message the complainant.  The report stated that the incident was referred for further investigation.

    During a Monday night special meeting, Nacogdoches Independent School District named Sandra Dowdy the lone finalist for the superintendent position. Dowdy has served as interim for the last several months. Per a press release from NISD, Dowdy was selected from a field of 45 applicants. A state mandated 21-day period must pass between the board naming her as the lone finalist and formally naming her as the next superintendent of Nacogdoches schools.
