HUDSON, TX (KTRE) – One East Texas home is a total loss, after it caught on fire early this morning.
The blaze began at 5:45 a.m. in Hudson, near the intersection of Doda and Rollingwood.
Hudson fire officials said there were six people home at the time, but no one was injured.
It took Hudson and Central fire officials 45 minutes to get the flames under control. They say it was an electrical fire that started in the living room.
The flames were touching the home next door, but to the neighbors' relief, officials were able to control the blaze before it spread.
"I was asleep and then a man came knocking on the door and my mom was running everywhere telling us to get out, and we didn't have time to grab anything, we just ran out barefooted and went across the street to my grandma's house," said Yesenia Rojo, 16, who lives next door.
The family did not have insurance, but Red Cross has been contacted to help them.
The names of the family members living in the home were not available at the time the report was given.
