NACOGDOCHES- (KTRE) Emily Mclemore is a fearless freshman gymnast at Central Heights High School. Whether it is the floor exercise, uneven bars, or the balance beam Emily has been hanging around the gym since she was three years old, five days a week, four hours per day and says she loves the pressure of representing East Texas this weekend.
It's great finally putting Nacogdoches on the map we have an awesome place to work out and amazing kids and finally being noticed and beating some of the Houston people and Dallas people were Nasatia came from," Mclemore said.
Mclemore just fourteen years old is focused and mature for her age, she has fun while trying to beat down the competition.
"I go through all my routines in my head and I try not to over think things I just go and do what my body remembers how to do it. It's muscle memory just allowing yourself to just have fun with it and not being stiff."
Emily is a pretty rare gymnast level nine first of all there is not a lot of level nines that compete and so when you find one you have one it's a real thrill for a coach," Brad Epperson said her coach.
The freshman is the level nine favorite to "bring home the title if she does she will qualify to attend national team training camp later this year."
