Lufkin Police say shooting suspect wrongfully identified

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) – Police said a suspect in a Lufkin teen's shooting early Sunday morning was wrongfully accused. 

Investigators are now in the process of obtaining an arrest warrant for Sergio Ibarra and rescinding the arrest warrant for Sergio Nathaniel Fuentes.

Following further investigation, police discovered Fuentes was in North Carolina at the time of the shooting. Fuentes' family members said he's been in North Carolina for three years living with his father.

Police said the victim, Ulesis Ranguel, 17, was able to identify the suspected shooter, Ibarra after a second photograph line up.

Ibarra will be charged with aggravated assault. Omar Almaguer, 19, will also be charged for aggravated assault.
