Work underway on SH 94 bridge replacement project

Lufkin, Texas (Press release) – Work is underway on State Highway 94 in Angelina and Trinity counties to replace five bridges. The contractor for the project, Longview Bridge and Road, Ltd, has set the barricades and is currently clearing right of way.

The project begins just east of the main Trinity River Bridge in Angelina County and runs just over three miles west through Trinity County past the fifth bridge. According to the Texas Department of Transportation, traffic will remain on the existing facilities until the new bridges are built on the south side of the roadway. Motorists can expect minor delays as the contractor moves equipment to the site and conducts other work in the area.

At a cost of $10.8 million dollars, this project is expected to take three years to complete. TxDOT urges motorists to slow down and to use caution when traveling through the construction zone. Remember, traffic fines double when workers are present.
