CENTER, TX (KTRE) - Shelby County Sheriff's investigators say a Center man is in jail on several charges relating to child molestation.

Rene Gonzales Tavera, 35, was first arrested in October on an indecency with a child charge. After bonding out, he was arrested again on April 19 on charges of continuous sexual abuse of a child and sexual assault of a child. After bonding out on April 29, sheriff's deputies arrested him again the same day on another count of continuous sexual abuse of a child and sexual assault of a child.

Capt. Mike Tollet of the sheriff's office said Tavera has molested "numerous" victims, all girls between the ages of 10 and 15, and that investigators are working on more charges against him.

Katie Hutchins of the Shelby County Advocacy Center calls the case one of the "worst we've seen in years."

An employee with the jail said Tavera had made bond on all but one of the charges, which is set at $100,000.
