NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) - Prom night was Saturday for Nacogdoches High School students. That evening was surely spectacular, but not as "exceptional" as the prom that took place Monday afternoon at Nacogdoches High School.
Around 650 students, parents and teachers from fifty area high schools attended the "exceptional prom."
The guests are enrolled in special education classes. Monday, they showed off their ability to have a really good time.
A major sponsor of today's event is a Nacogdoches High School graduate who today has an autistic son.
"We're always looking for ways to give back to the organizations that have been supportive for me and my family," Doug Sanders said. "So it was a good opportunity for us to give back to a good cause. We're very involved in children and obviously when it coincides with the alumni association at the high school I went to, we were excited to be involved in it." "
Sanders, who is now president of Natural Foods Company in Arizona. He spent the morning with all the prom attendees. He may have had even more fun that he had at his own high school prom.
