Household Collection Day scheduled for Saturday May 8th

LUFKIN, TX (Press release) - A local recycling center is holding a collection day this Saturday, and wants all your household hazardous materials.

Lockheed Martin, City of Lufkin Regional Recycling Center and Angelina Beautiful/Clean present its Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day in the Lufkin Middle School parking lot on May 8th, from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.

They will be accepting paints, automobile batteries, household cleaners, household chemicals, pesticides, flammables, other hazardous household products, and white goods (old appliances, refrigerators, stoves, hot water heaters) electronic wastes ( computers, monitors, printers, scanners, Palm accessories, power supplies, battery backups, cables, toner/ink cartridges, hard drives, CD ROMs, speakers, VCRs, DVD players, stereo equipment, TVs, game consoles, digital cameras, any audio or video equipment, networking equipment, tape drives, test equipment, fax machines, keyboards, voice/tape recorders, radios, Walkman products, calculators, cellular phones, and phone accessories).

Motor oil and antifreeze will be accepted at the City of Lufkin Regional Recycling Center in the 500 block of Southpark Drive.

Tires are prohibited along with any infectious and medical wastes, biological and radioactive materials, compressed gas cylinders, ammunition, fire extinguishers, smoke detectors, and explosives.
