ANGELINA COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - An Angelina County man is in jail tonight on a $9,000 bond, following Thursday's arrest on drug charges.
A justice of the peace set bond at $3,000 each on charges of delivery of marijuana, possession of marijuana and delivery of a controlled substance for Jimmy Carell Jones, 52.
While deputies were arresting Jones and serving a search warrant on his house, located on a road off of State Highway 103, they discovered a pipe bomb. A military bomb squad based out of Bossier City, La., responded to the scene and used their own explosive devices to detonate the bomb.
Federal agents have not charged anyone for possessing the pipe bomb, but Sgt. Allen Hill, of the sheriff's department, said Jones and a man that lived in a trailer on the same property, James Howard, 53, are considered persons of interest. An agent with Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms questioned Howard about the bomb Thursday at the residence and questioned Jones about it at the jail.
