LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - Hundreds of seventh graders are learning healthy habits they can use throughout their lives.
The Second Annual Lufkin Middle School Health Fair taught information from local organizations like skin and eye care, protecting your hearing, diabetes, fitness, smoking and drug abuse, CPR and even bullying.
Organizers say it's important, since many kids aren't learning these life lessons at home.
"Right now we're concentrating on things like nutrition, physical activity, and avoidance of tobacco and other harmful substances," said Carol Bradley, president of the school health advisory committee.
After Friday's health fair, students will take a quiz to see how much they've learned. Top-scoring students will win prizes.
