LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) – Police say a Lufkin man was shot early Saturday morning.
According to Lt. David Young with the Lufkin Police Department, officers responded to a call of shots being fired in the area of Nerren and Dominy around 12:30 am Saturday.
Young said officers arrived on the scene to find 23-year-old Lazarion Deckard, of Lufkin, who had been shot twice in the thigh.
Deckard told police he was walking home when he was shot by someone in a white Cadillac, who then fled the scene. Deckard explained to the officers that he did not know the person who shot him, or why they shot him.
Deckard was treated and released from a Lufkin hospital Saturday.
Police are investigating the shooting. No suspects have been named at this time.
