Man charged with murder in early-morning Hudson shooting

HUDSON, TX (KTRE) – A New Waverly man is charged with murder after a Hudson shooting which left one man dead and another injured at a party early Sunday morning, according to Hudson Police.

Lt. Jimmy Casper with the Hudson Police Department said at around 1 a.m., officers were dispatched to a disturbance call at a residence off of FM 706 on Scroggins Lane, in Hudson.

Upon arrival, police detained the suspected shooter, 34-year-old Timothy Malone, of New Waverly, who had been involved in a minor wreck, while trying to drive away from the residence.

The victims' names are not being released at this time, as next of kin have not yet been notified.

Police say both victims are from Hudson and were taken to Memorial Hosptial.

A 41-year-old man was pronounced dead early Sunday morning. The other victim was shot once in the leg, and was treated and released from the hospital Sunday.

Police say several witnesses saw the shooting take place. Casper said the Hudson Police Department is investigating the incident.

Malone has been charged with one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and one count of murder. He is being held in the Angelina County Jail. His bond has not been set.
