IRVING, TX (AP) - Former Lufkin Panther Dez Bryant is getting his first chance to catch passes from his new quarterback, Tony Romo.
Bryant was on the field with the Cowboys as organized team activities began Monday.
Romo had a tee time Monday morning for a chance to earn a spot in the Byron Nelson Championship, the PGA Tour event this week just down the road from the team's Valley Ranch practice facility. But the tee time conflicted with the voluntary workout.
Bryant was the team's first-round draft pick last month.
Returning receivers Patrick Crayton and Sam Hurd both were given permission to seek a trade after Bryant was drafted. Hurd was on the field Monday, Crayton wasn't.
The Dallas Morning News reported Tuesday that Bryant also took part in fielding punts. Bryant did not play on special teams during his time at LHS, but returned punts at Oklahoma State his sophomore and junior seasons. He was named Big XII Special Teams Player of the Year following his sophomore year.
