LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) – If you've noticed a bumpier drive lately, don't worry, it's not bad roads. It's TxDot cables.
The large black, cables that lay horizontally across roads are part of an annual state-wide traffic count.
the counters provide TxDot with data to develop district traffic maps.
The maps are then used for planning, designing, construction and maintaining the state highway system.
The counting cables will be in place in the nine-county Lufkin District though May 27th.
