LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - By Holley Nees - email
LUFKIN, TX (KTRE)An important day for some Lufkin high school seniors. Ten students from the district's special education program walked across the stage and received their diplomas.
Some gave speeches and all took time for their family to snap a quick photo. The mayor was also there to shake hands with the graduates. Teachers say the students have worked hard for this moment.
"It makes us feel really proud because we see them start and they're fragile and then we see how strong they are and then they make us stronger because we hold each other's hands," said Special Education Teacher.
The students had the option of walking in either today's graduation or the main ceremony next week.
