NACOGDOCHES, Texas — Stephen F. Austin senior Kendal Harper was named Thursday to the 2010 Louisville Slugger/NFCA All-Central Region team. The honor comes on the heels of Harper's Southland Conference Player of the Year award.
Harper was named to the second-team and is one of six Southland Conference players to make the all-region list.
Harper batted .338 for the Ladyjacks this season, helping them to a share of the program's first-ever Southland Conference championship. Her batting average was second-best on the squad, and she led the team in hits (53) and runs scored (31).
Over four seasons in a Ladyjack uniform, Harper amassed 230 base knocks, 681 at-bats and 14 career triples, all school records. She hit a career-best seven home runs this year, all of them coming in the final 25 games of the season.
In addition to her Player of the Year award, Harper was named to the All-Southland Conference First Team for the second time in as many seasons.
