LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) – It's a day seniors across east Texas look forward to every year. Mayfest celebrates Older Americans Month with a full day of fun.
Organized by the Deep East Texas Area Agency on Aging and 2-1-1 Texas, Mayfest brings out over 500 seniors to the Lufkin Civic Center.
Games, entertainment, and even a dance contest got seniors moving, and a health fair with over 30 area vendors was also a big hit.
"They can come out and have their blood sugar checked and have their health screenings done, all kinds of information from the community through out the 12 counties: adult day cares, nursing homes," said Donna Sprouse, 2-1-1 Texas Manager.
Lunch was provided for all of the seniors., and a walk-a-thon kicked off the event this morning.
