NACOGDOCHES COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - Firefighters from Angelina and Nacogdoches County spent an hour fighting three separate fires along U.S. 59 South in Nacogdoches County.
According to Nacogdoches Fire Chief Keith Kipplinger, firefighters were sent to the fires at 1:55 p.m. He said they burned over 10 acres, and the causes, while still unknown, were probably related.
Kipplinger said one of the fires jumped over U.S. 59 and began burning the property of Gillespie Lumber, but firefighters managed to keep it from damaging the building.
Firefighters from Nacogdoches, Woden, Douglass, Rivercrest, Appleby, South Nacogdoches, Lake Nacogdoches and the Texas Forest Service responded.
Kipplinger said one firefighter from South Nacogdoches was injured from overheating, but he was not sure if the injury was serious enough to take him to the hospital.
Kipplinger said firefighters would be at the location for about another hour to make sure it did not rekindle.
