Jason Farmer

            My name is Jason Farmer.  I am a senior atTenaha High School in Tenaha, TX.  My parents are Brenda and Steven Farmer.  My grandparents are Hiram and Beth Melton.  I plan to attend either LeTourneau University or Southern Methodist University starting in the fall of 2003. 

During High School I have participated in many extracurricular activities.  These include: Band, Math Club, Junior Chamber of Commerce, Beta Club, GT, One Act Play, Drama Club, FFA, and the yearbook staff. 

            During High School I have also won many awards for academic accomplishments.  I have competed in the TMSCA State Competition for three years.  There I have received the TOP GUN AWARD each year. I have also competed in UIL State Competition for three years.  As a Sophomore, I won 4th Place in Number Sense, and 5th Place in Mathematics.  As a Junior, I won 2nd Place in Number Sense, and 4th Place in Mathematics.  This year I will also be competing in the State Competition in Math, Number Sense, and Science in May. 

            I have also competed in the State and National Beta Club Math Competitions.  As a Freshman, I placed 1st in State and competed in Nationals.  As a Sophomore, I placed 3rd in State.  As a Junior, I placed 2nd in State, and 3rd in Nationals.  As a Senior, I placed 1st in State, and will compete in Nationals in June. 

            I am also a very active member of Heritage Missionary Baptist Church in Center, TX.  I have been President of our churchs youth group as well as the President of the Shelby County Youth Association. 

            I will be graduating with a 97.79 GPA and will be the Valedictorian of my class.
