ANGELINA COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - By Jena Johnson - email
ANGELINA COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - Investigator Mike Jones points out gunshots he says were fired by Michael Thompson.
"This is where the shot went through the home," Jones said.
The home belongs to a friend of the woman authorities say Thompson has been stalking.
"This is very serious, he's been arrested three or four times on stalking already then also violations of protective order and now deadly conduct, so yes, this is very serious," Jones said.
Thompson reportedly followed her to the house.
"Threatened to kill me, threatened to kill the people that happened to be with me whenever he would decide he wanted to do that," the victim said.
She says Thompson's been stalking her for more than two years.
She has hundreds of threatening voice messages she says are all from Thompson.
"There was one time when he called 50 times," the victim said. "I think it was 54 times in about a two-hour period."
She says the notes are a constant reminder that he could be watching.
"It's unnerving and if you're not careful it just becomes part of your everyday life," the victim said.
Stalking cases are hard to prove. Jones says this victim did the right thing by reporting each time Thompson threatened her.
"The problem we have with stalking a lot of time is people don't report every time they drive by and then we have no documentation that exactly happened," Jones said.
"Made sure that I kept all the notes that were left, keep all the voice mail that were left, all the text messages to turn them into the authorities," the victim said.
For now Thompson is in jail, which is the only time she says she feels safe.
"Pay attention to what's going on around you and sometimes you still miss when he's following you," the victim said.
She prays one day this will all stop and tougher laws will protect others from living in fear.
Thompson is charged with stalking and deadly conduct.
