LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) –  Lufkin Police said a father reported that his teenage son was pulled over shortly after midnight on Saturday by what's believed to be a man impersonating a police officer.

It was reported that the teen was pulled over at the intersection Allendale Drive and Pershing Avenue by a young white man who told him there had been a kidnapping and he wanted to check the trunk of his car.

Police said it was also reported that after doing so, the suspect advised the teenager he was free to go.

The boy's father reported that his son did not see a badge or gun, and believes he recognized the alleged impersonator as a former classmate.
