CENTER, TX (KTRE) - The capital murder case of a former Shelby County deputy and his wife is slated to go before a grand jury today, according to the victim's family.

Former sheriff's deputy Rex Calhoun and his wife, Suzie Calhoun, are charged with murdering Rex Calhoun's brother, Alan Calhoun, last September.

Authorities say Alan died from homicidal violence, including blunt force trauma.

The couple is currently behind bars in the Panola County Jail with no bond.

The grand jury will have the option to indict the couple. If it does, then the case will move another step closer to trial.
