CROCKETT, TX (KTRE) - A new wood pellet facility is starting up in Crockett.
Houston-based Zilka Biomass is buying an old industrial plant and expanding it. They have created wood pellets that can withstand moisture. The pellets will be shipped from the Port of Houston. Houston County's economic development director was able to entice the company with both city and county tax abatements.
"Little air conditioner units or fans that work," Love INC Director Patti Goodrum said. "Gas vouchers. Those kind of things that we really need to raise funds for when folks need extra stuff."
The sale is in a vacant retail building on the corner of East Main Street and Shawnee Street.
The doors will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., starting Friday.
