Alex makes landfall near Soto La Marina, Mexico By Brad Hlozek | June 27, 2010 at 12:49 AM CDT - Updated June 20 at 2:55 PM Hurricane Alex made landfall near Soto La Marina, Mexico, or about 110 miles south of Brownsville, TX as a category 2 hurricane, with winds of 105 mph. This Hurricane Warnings are in effect from Baffin Bay, Texas to La Cruz, Mexico. Tropical Storm Warnings are in effect from Baffin Bay, TX to Port O'Connor, TX. Alex will weaken into a tropical storm overnight and into a tropical depression on Thursday as it moves into the higher terrain of Mexico. Areas in South Texas can expect 10-15 inches of rain, isolated tornadoes, hurricane force wind gusts, and coastal flooding. Although the storm will stay far away from us, we will still feel its presence as rain bands rotate around the low, and move into East Texas over the next few days.
