Former Lumberjack makes minor league all star team

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - Former Lumberjack Steven Hill was recently named to the Texas League All-Star game for the Springfield Cardinals, to be played in Midland, Texas, on June 30th.

Hill played for the `Jacks from 2006-2007 and was selected by the St. Louis Cardinals in the 13th round of the 2007 MLB Draft. He currently is the starting catcher for Springfield, the AA affiliate of the St. Louis club.

Through 58 games Hill is hitting .279 while ranking second on the team with 10 home runs and leading the club with 46 RBI, a mark that also ranks fourth in the entire Texas League.

Hill is the all-time home run and RBI leader at SFA and was an all-America selection in 2007 for the `Jacks after slugging .387 with 24 home runs and 73 RBI. He is one of two current Lumberjacks making their way through the minor leagues as former pitcher Chris Court is currently pitching for the Class A Greenville Drive, a member of the Boston Red Sox organization.
