Lufkin Police catch man, say he had warrants, drugs and guns

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - Lufkin Police say they have arrested a wanted man following a foot chase.

According to a Lufkin Police report on Monday, an officer recognized Demarcus Dshay Greer, 23, of Lufkin, who was riding his bike in the 600 block of Kurth Drive, who had warrants out for his arrest. The report states Greer had actively evaded police officers' attempts to serve the warrants.

The officer identified himself to Greer when he dismounted his bicycle and fled on foot. The officer managed to apprehend him near a wooded area along Smith Street. The report states when the officer took Greer into custody he was carrying two handguns and multiple rounds of ammunition, a plastic bag containing marijuana, and prescription medications not prescribed to him.

Greer is charged with multiple offenses, including evading arrest or detention, unlawful carry of a weapon, possession of marijuana, and two counts of possession of a controlled substance and failure to identify.

The report states that further investigation will be conducted to determine where the handguns came from.
