LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - A woman was arrested after police say she rear-ended another woman before leaving the scene on Frank Street Tuesday afternoon.

According to Det. J.B. Smith, Crystal Tobias Berry was driving a Nissan Pathfinder when she rear-ended a Pontiac which was stopped at a stoplight on the intersection of Frank Street and First Street, at 4:55 p.m. Berry then drove around the Pontiac and left the scene.

Witnesses were able to give a license plate number to a Lufkin Police officer, who traced the vehicle to a home on FM 1819 in Angelina County, Smith said.

The officer requested the sheriff's office assistance and went to the home and interviewed Berry, who the officer said seemed to be intoxicated on some kind of drug. The officer brought witnesses to the home, who connected the vehicle and Berry to the scene, Smith said.

Berry is charged with failure to stop and render aid, a felony, and a misdemeanor offense of driving with an invalid license. She is in the Angelina County Jail, as bond has not been set for her release.

The victim of the wreck was treated for injuries at a Lufkin hospital.
