Houston-AP -- A police chase ended at a Houston-area Wal-Mart, where the suspect killed himself in a dressing room.
The Texas Department of Public Safety says police were chasing a man wanted on federal drug possession charges. The pursuit reached speeds of up to 100 miles-per-hour.
The man shot at officers in a busy parking lot before ducking into a Wal-Mart.
The Houston Chronicle says the gunman apparently pistol-whipped a female clerk who stood between him and the dressing room. Witnesses say he then entered the dressing room and a gunshot was heard.
Customers were evacuated from the store and employees were kept inside.
Police say the suspect took his own life with a single gunshot to the head. The clerk was taken to a hospital for treatment.
