Columbia, South Carolina-AP -- A plane crash in South Carolina has killed four people.
The single-engine plane went down last night in rural Allendale County. Thunderstorms were moving through the area at the time.
The FAA says the plane had left Portland, Indiana, and was heading to Beaufort, which is about 50 miles from Allendale.
Allendale County's airport manager says his station closed up about 6 p-m yesterday, and he didn't know anything about the crash until he got to work this morning. A supervisor at the Beaufort County Airport says planes normally wouldn't make contact with his tower until ten miles away.
