BEAUMONT, TX (News Release) - NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) - The Nacogdoches County Sheriff's Office has charged a man in the abduction and sexual assault of a 15-year-old girl.
According to a press release from Sheriff Thomas Kerss, investigators were able to use a composite sketch and a DNA sample from the victim to identify Leroy Diamond, 41, of Nacogdoches, as the suspect in the April 21 incident.
Kerss stated the girl was walking along Martin Luther King Boulevard in Nacogdoches when Diamond, who she did not know, offered her a ride home in his car. She accepted and gave him directions to her home. When the girl realized he was not driving to her home, she tried to jump out of the car, Kerss stated. Diamond was able to restrain her and held her at knifepoint until he drover her to a cemetery located in the Woden area, according to Kerss.
Diamond raped the girl on multiple occasions, Kerss stated. Following one of the rapes, Kerss states the girl kicked Diamond in the groin and ran away.
The sheriff's office charged Diamond with aggravated sexual assault and aggravated kidnapping. He is being held in the Nacogdoches County Jail on a $100,000 bond.
Kerss said Diamond may be connected to other sexual assault cases. However, he is not a suspect in the abduction and sexual assault which occurred in Nacogdoches County in May.
