LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - A Groveton man, already charged with possession of child pornography by Lufkin Police, faces an additional count of the same charge following an arrest Wednesday.

Texas Ranger Pete Maskunas said he arrested Steven Brent Nobles, 35, at his place of employment. He said the investigation was part of a cooperative effort between himself, the Trinity County Sheriff's Office and the Trinity County District Attorney's Office.

Maskunas said he had received a report of Nobles being involved with child pornography and possible sexual assaults. Further investigation revealed Nobles had been charged with one count of  child pornography by Lufkin Police in Oct. 2009. Maskunas said he then learned about a computer police had confiscated for evidence at Nobles' Trinity County home and was able to use that to obtain an arrest warrant for Nobles.

Maskunas said more child pornography charges, as well as sexual assault charges are being investigated for Nobles.

Nobles was booked into the Angelina County Jail and transferred to the Trinity County Jail. A jail spokeswoman said bond would not be set on him until Friday morning.

According to Lufkin Police, Nobles' 2009 arrest came after an officer encountered him on the 1000 block of Rowe Avenue and learned he held four outstanding warrants. During the encounter, Nobles was found to be in possession of marijuana and several papers containing underage boys in various states of undress and in various sexual positions, the report stated.
