TYLER, TX (KLTV) - From the island of Okinowa into Mainland China, Charles Aber fought with the First Marine Division in World War II.

Aber had joined the Marine Corps at the age of 17 and with only three months training was sent to fight the Japanese in the South Pacific.

Aber's Division was awarded a prestigious Presidential Citation for his service, but thinks that the many Marines who died in the war deserved it more.

Charles Aber was discharge from the Marine Corps in 1946, proud to have served his country and to have preserved our freedom.
