(KTRE)-East Texas: After several days of added cloud cover and afternoon showers, rain chances will be vanishing as high pressure builds in overhead.
With rain chances virtually zero, afternoon temperatures will be soaring into the upper 90's, possibly hitting the triple digit mark this weekend.
So far this summer, we have had only one day in which the temperature has reached the century mark. That will change by the weekend and into early next week as a shift in the weather pattern squashes any chances for rain, much less any significant cloud cover.
It looks we will round out the month of July and enter August on a hot note; perhaps the hottest stretch of weather we have seen to date so far this summer.
If you are making outdoor plans this weekend, make sure that you prepare for the heat by drinking plenty of water or Gatorade. Also, limit your time in the sun and try to seek as much shade as possible.
The heat building in this weekend could prompt a Heat Advisory. Stay tuned.
