TYLER, TX (KLTV) - This year marks the 60th anniversary of the Korean War, which took more than 33,000 American lives. For three East Texans who were honored in Korea this summer, the trip back was a revelation.

Former Marines Bill Lynn, John Gaddis and career Navy man Jim Gill, were chosen to represent the United States in a special ceremony commemorating the 60th anniversary of the Korean War. When officials learned that Lynn had fought in three of their country's most significant battles, he was asked to be a special speaker for the event. Lynn's speech was broadcast by television throughout South Korea and included in the county's official Korean War publication.

When Lynn, Gaddis and Gill had left South Korea in the 1950's after fighting for the country's freedom, they left a country of blackened and charred earth. During this visit they were amazed and pleased by the abundant green, the modern cities, and the all over development of South Korea.
