Man accused of burning his own house down indicted by grand jury

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - Timothy Thompson said the fire at his house in April was caused by an electrical problem, but witnesses told authorities Thompson set his own house on fire.

Thompson was arrested for arson three months ago and now an Angelina County grand jury has indicted him.

The fire occurred at Thompson's home on Keltys Street.  Fire investigators said evidence at the scene and witnesses linked Thompson to the crime.  Witnesses told authorities they saw him light a pile of clothes on fire in the hallway. The subsequent fire engulfed the house and destroyed it.

The arson indictment is one of a list of charges against Thompson.  He was already accused of drug possession, evading arrest, criminal mischief and assault.
