Deadly conduct and police chase ends with suspect's car found wrecked

NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) - Nacogdoches Police spent some harrowing moments overnight chasing a suspect who had allegedly fired off shots at a residence on Paluxy Street just before they arrived.

Police were called to a disturbance and as officers got there the suspect was driving away.  The suspect drove west on Highway 21 and refused to stop for officers, according to Lt. Darrell Trawick with the Nacogdoches Police Department.

Officers said the suspect was driving the vehicle excessively faster than the speed limit with no lights which forced them to end the pursuit.

Trawick said the suspect's girlfriend was in the front seat, and attempted to stop him by putting his vehicle in neutral.

The suspect's vehicle was found wrecked in a construction zone.  Officers also recovered a rifle from the scene of the accident.

Trawick said the incident is still under investigation, but police do have a known suspect and plan to execute a warrant for his arrest sometime next week.

Police are not releasing the name of the girlfriend, but Trawick said she did have minor injuries and was taken to a Nacogdoches hospital following the wreck. Trawick said there were other occupants in the vehicle that fled into the woods.

Trawick said there were no other injuries to report. Check back here at for new information as it becomes available.
