Watch out, scorcher on the way, high could reach 102

FROM THE EAST TEXAS WEATHER CENTER (KTRE) - A heat advisory is in effect for all of East Texas, with temperatures expected to reach 102 degrees.

Sunny skies will be the rule today, as the heat index value will reach between 105 and 109 degrees this afternoon.

The heat continues tomorrow with high temperatures around 102 degrees again and heat index values around 105 degrees.  The ridge will weaken just a bit later this week towards the weekend allowing for an isolated shower to be possible by Saturday.  Highs will remain near 100 through the work week.

The heat advisory is in effect for the following counties: Angelina, Cherokee, Jasper, Nacogdoches, Newton, Rusk, Sabine, San Augustine, Shelby and Tyler.
