POLLOK, TX (KTRE) - A 73-year-old Pollok man previously convicted of child sex crimes is back behind bars after a 16-year-old boy said he fondled him while he was asleep.

Mickey Joe Walker is charged with indecency with a child.

According to an arrest affidavit, the 16-year-old and a 17-year-old boy were staying the night of June 29 at Walker's home in order to leave early the next morning for a painting job. The teenagers say they told Walker they wanted medication for aching muscles and he gave each of them two Hydrocodone tablets. The alleged victim said he took those two pills, plus two more and a small yellow tablet, the affidavit stated.

The 16-year-old said he then laid down in the defendant's bedroom and fell asleep. He then woke up after midnight and found that his pants and underwear had been pulled down and Walker was fondling him, the affidavit stated.

The teen said he asked Walker what he was doing and the affidavit stated Walker said he was sorry and offered the teen $2,500. The teen got up, refused the money, woke up and left with his friend, according to the affidavit.

"It's a shocker that he could be that close, you know, and I have grandchildren that come over and stay and it worries me," said Walker's neighbor Lylian Murray.

Walker was booked in Monday night at the Angelina County Jail, but we found out this isn't his first run-in with the law.

Walker is a registered sex offender.

Murray said she had no idea he lived just a few doors down.

"I've seen him before, I've met him, so it is surprising that he was that close to me," said Murray.  "It's scary."

Murray keeps the photo of an area registered sex offender on her refrigerator so she doesn't forget his face.  She claims she was never told about Walker and she has young grandchildren that visit often.

"Where there's children, I don't think they should be allowed to live anywhere close," said Murray.  "It's always going to be a temptation for them."

Even if he's not guilty of this crime, she said knowing he's a sex offender keeps her concerned.

"That's enough, that's enough and just by looking at him I could tell that that's all I need," said Murray.

The affidavit does not say what evidence, other than the teen's testimony, the sheriff's office used in arresting Walker.

Walker was convicted of four child sex crimes in 1985 and is a registered sex offender, living at 5318 State Highway 7 West.

He was booked into the Angelina County Jail Monday afternoon, where he is held without bond.

According to Texas law, sex offenders face a life sentence on a second conviction.
