POLLOK, TX (KTRE) - A man who was the victim of a Lufkin shooting in July and who was arrested just one day later for a false 911 call is back in jail, this time after authorities say he has been linked to at least four burglaries.
According to Angelina County Sheriff's Office Lt. Pete Cooper, deputies arrested Jerry Earl Lane Jr., 38, and his nephew, Darrell Raynard Lane, 21, both of Lufkin, following a Monday burglary on U.S. Highway 69 North, in the Pollok area.
Cooper said the duo had broken into a home by pushing an air-condition window unit into the house, but they then saw someone inside the house and tried to flee.
Deputies were able to track down a vehicle matching the witness's description. They stopped the vehicle of State Highway 7 and detained the pair.
Since the arrest, Cooper said they have linked the two to three more burglaries and expect more.
Darrell Lane was out on bond for two counts of burglary out of Nacogdoches County and two counts of burglary in Angelina County.
Jerry Lane was a victim of an apartment shooting in early July. He was then arrested the next day after Lufkin Police say he called 911 and said another shooting had occurred. After police arrived, he said there was not really a shooting but that he wanted police to arrive because his TV had been stolen. He was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of filing a false report.
Darrell Lane is being held in Angelina County Jail on a $200,000 bond and Jerry Lane has a $100,000 bond.
Lufkin Police are still investigating the July shooting and no arrests have been made.
