Houston-AP -- An illegal immigrant who'd bought his way onto a sweltering trailer to be reunited with his wife and children in Houston has been buried there.
Today's funeral service for the 45-year-old restaurant worker (Mateo Salgado Perez) was attended by nearly 100 people. It comes ten days after he died in a trailer used to smuggle dozens of illegal immigrants into the United States.
Nineteen immigrants died in the trailer, in what officials are calling the country's deadliest immigrant-smuggling accident. They died of dehydration, hypothermia and suffocation.
Police say Tyrone Williams of New York state was driving the truck that was hauling the trailer. He has been arrested along with five other suspects. Authorities are looking for others.
