ANGELINA COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - A Zavalla man has been charged with his fourth drug manufacturing crime in the past four years, following a Thursday arrest.
Angelina County Sheriff's Inv. Tom Matthews said Sgt. Allen Hill spotted a Charles Roy Euper, 56, loading several bags in the back of a truck around 10 a.m. and alerted Matthews.
Matthews said he intercepted the truck on U.S. 69 South, at the intersection of FM 326 and conducted a traffic stop for the driver (who was not Euper) not wearing a seatbelt.
Matthews said the driver gave Matthews permission to search the vehicle, not knowing Euper had placed the bags in the truck nor what was in the bags.
Matthews said the bags contained a complete meth lab, which Euper was hauling back to his residence.
Euper is charged with possession and transport of certain chemicals with the intent to manufacture.
The driver was released after investigators determined he had no knowledge of the bags.
