NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) – When 29-year-old Dusty Barbee crashed his ATV last August, family and friends thought they had lost him.
When he did survive, loved ones were told he would never talk or walk again.
But they say Dusty is doing both of these things, continuing on his path to recovery.
Saturday, Calvary Baptist Church in Nacogdoches hosted a yard sale to raise money for medical expenses for Dusty and his family.
Several church and community members donated all sorts of items to help with the event.
"Every step that he's taken, he's beating the odds and we just feel like that it was our opportunity, our blessing actually to help him," said Debbie Ferguson, a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Ferguson says they've raised hundreds of dollars for Barbee and his family.
