Haiti

The massive earthquake in Haiti demolished the country.  Hundreds of thousands of people have died, and millions have been left homeless and destitute.  Haiti's infrastructure has crumbled and recovery will take decades.  They need our help now.

We in the United States and in East Texas have had our share of major disasters.  Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans and Hurricane Rita in East Texas created massive damage.  Most recently tornadoes ripped through Lufkin.  But we have had nothing on the scale of the devastation in Haiti.

East Texans, it is time to display the generosity we are known for.  Please give to the Red Cross, Salvation Army, or any organization you feel comfortable supporting.  Please give more than once as the country will need help for many years to come.  Do not let this tragedy fade from your memory.

This is one of the most heartbreaking disasters ever.  The people of Haiti desperately need our prayers and desperately need our support.  Let's make sure they get it.

Those are our thoughts.  What are yours?
