LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - Lufkin firefighters "responded quickly" to a dumpster fire at Lufkin Industries and managed to contain it and extinguish it before it could spread, according to a company spokesman.
Vice President Paul Perez said nobody was hurt.
Firefighters closed the intersection at Raguet Street and Feagin Avenue from around 1:50 p.m. to 2:10 p.m. to clean up the scene.
Assistant Fire Marshal Steve McCool said officials suspected the fire started from a chemical reaction.
"There were some oily rags that were not disposed of correctly and that may have been what did it," McCool said.
McCool said firefighters were on the scene from 1:07 p.m. until about 3 p.m., assisting with cleanup.
