JASPER, TX (KTRE) - A Jasper County preacher was booked out of jail after accepting a probation deal for sexual assault of a child, but is back behind bars today on three outstanding warrants in Panola County, according to a spokesperson at the district attorney's office.

Donnie Smith Jr., 37, of Silsbee, was arrested in July after his wife found text messages and photos on his phone from a now 16-year-old girl. The wife told authorities about it and Smith confessed to having sex with the girl on several occasions.

Smith waived an indictment and pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of second degree sexual assault of a child.
