POLLOK, TX (KTRE) - The Angelina County Sheriff's Office is piecing together evidence of a possible sexual assault on Thigpen Road in Pollok.
According to Lt. Pete Cooper, a woman was walking her dog on the road sometime between 6 and 7 a.m. when another pedestrian assaulted her on the side of the road. The woman managed to get away and ran home and called 911, Cooper said.
Cooper said the woman described the man as a white male, aged between 30 and 40 and wearing blue jeans and a gray shirt. His hair is described as salt-and-pepper colored, he may have a beard and he has a slim build.
Deputies were combing the area for evidence at around 9:30 a.m. while the woman was being examined. They continued searching through out the day.
"We got people all over the place looking," said Cooper.
Mary Baggett lives on Thigpen road with her three children. She says she's been a nervous wreck since hearing about a woman raped to close to home.
"Thought Thigpen road was a good place to live and it's surprising," said Baggett.
Lieutenant Cooper hopes that someone saw something that could lead to a suspect. Mary Baggett hopes so too.
In the mean time she's keeping a closer eye on her kids.
"I watch them a lot, but now I feel like I have to be very, very watchful... If they're playing outside, now I have to make sure I'm outside with them," said Baggett.
The Angelina County Sheriff's Office is warning families in near Thigpen road to watch for anyone suspicious.
Anyone with knowledge of the incident should call the sheriff's office at 936-634-3332 or call Crime Stoppers at 936-639-TIPS.
